This course is designed for plumbers and other related mechanical contractors. The course covers basic backflow hydraulics, cross-connection identification, degree of hazard, operation of backflow prevention assemblies, applications and basic installation requirements of backflow prevention assemblies. A hands-on workshop will allow students to practice test procedures on the reduced pressure principal assembly, double check valve assembly, and pressure vacuum breaker. ICC test procedures will be taught in the classroom and put into practice in the Wet Lab.
The course is designed for water treatment plant operators, wastewater plant operators and plumbers who are being re-certified. Topics include how to apply protection and to prevent backflow, proper installation guidelines, elements of a comprehensive cross-connection control program, etc. Each afternoon, a hands-on testing workshop will allow students to practice test procedures on the reduced pressure principal assembly and double check valve assembly. ICC test procedures will be taught in the classroom and put into practice in the Wet Lab. A written examination will be given at the conclusion of the course
